Inspired by the revival of Classic architecture in the 19th century, this kitchen speaks to the notion of timeless style.
By using White Frost on cherry wood in an Heirloom finish and introducing a painted cooking center in Latte, the space was lightened and brightened in keeping with a Greek Revival aesthetic. Other details that infuse European architectural elements are: Egg and Dart mouldings; Tapestry doors with an embossed "string of pearls" inset panel; and, scrolled cornices. The combination of architectural details, light finishes and summery colors results in fresh, comfortable working and gathering space.
Highlights:
- Breakfront: Perfect for a simple "lemonade" respite, or a full-blown breakfast, this dining area dresses up the concept of the eat-in kitchen. Inspired by late 18th to 19th-century architecture, this maple breakfront, in a paint-like finish, is a stately storage and display furniture piece for linens, crockery, cookbooks or a few "must-have" herbs. Note the classic pediment, pilasters and flush inset cabinet doors and moulding.
- Mini Pantry: Making use of every square inch of space is a necessary undertaking in kitchen design. The gazillion spices; the twenty different olive oils and vinegars; oat flour, wheat flour, rice flour - it all needs a home. Consider an adjunct mini pantry with small "back-door" shelving, an ingenious way to maximize your storage opportunities.
- Basket Storage: Extensive storage and workspace are the keys to designing a functional kitchen. Deep drawers, plenty of cabinets as well as creative, pretty approaches to storing our goods are all valuable ways to make the most of space. Here, charming, countrified sliding baskets storage win the day. Highly serviceable for fresh vegetables and fruits, this design option lends a comfortable, casual element to any space.
